Astrotricha Capital SEZC is the investing vehicle and family office of John Langley Hancock. With over 25 years of mining and capital markets experience, John has made early investments in some of the most successful junior mining stocks on the Australian Stock Exchange. As a result of his advisory positions, and now the family office, over $1b has been invested in Australian, Canadian and US focused investments.
Led by CEO Gavin Rezos (successful early stage mining investor, previously Investment Banking Director for HSBC in the Middle East/Regional General Counsel for HSBC in multiple jurisdictions, and Chair Vulcan Energy) our team collaborates with other family offices, our network of HNW investors, and other industry contacts.
Astrotricha Capital SEZC is named after the Astrotricha hamptonii tree, also known as the Iron Tree.
The tree was pointed out to John as a youth by his grandfather Lang Hancock and by Lang's (bush) geologist Ken McCamey, who in the 1950s first noticed the tree only grew in rock fissures within high-grade iron ore deposits.
Recognisable from the air, this species was used by them to accurately map the distribution of many of the richest iron ore deposits in the Hamersley Range in Western Australia.
Astrotricha Capital was founded on the belief that through careful observance of the geological, political and economic environment, hard work and a dose of good luck, important discoveries can still be made and value created.
